Admin work is the tax on being a business owner. Tax prep, contract review, expense categorization, insurance renewals, compliance paperwork — nobody starts a company to do this stuff, but it consumes entire weekends if you let it pile up.

Claude can handle the grunt work. Not the judgment calls — those are still yours — but the reading, organizing, categorizing, and drafting that makes admin so time-consuming.

Tax Document Processing

Every year, the same fire drill: gather forms, organize them, figure out what's missing, send everything to your accountant in a format they can actually use.

Warning

Claude can read your tax documents and organize information, but it is not a tax advisor. Use Claude to organize and prepare; use a CPA to file and advise. Never make tax decisions based solely on Claude's interpretation.

You get a 15-page vendor agreement. Your lawyer charges $500/hour. Before you send it to legal, let Claude do the first pass.

Common Mistakes

Don't rely on Claude for legal or tax advice. Claude can read, organize, summarize, and flag — but it cannot replace professional advice for decisions with legal or financial consequences. Use Claude to prepare, not to decide.

Don't upload confidential documents without considering your data policies. If you're reviewing a contract with sensitive terms, make sure you're comfortable with how Claude handles that data. Business-tier plans have stronger data retention policies.

Don't skip the human review. Claude might miss nuance in a contract that a lawyer would catch. Claude might miscategorize an expense that your accountant would flag. The value is in the speed, not in eliminating professional oversight.
