Content Strategy for Medium

So we discussed before how blogging on Medium can be a great way to gain traction, share your ideas, and build your audience base.  But the question remains, how do you publish useful, new, and shareable content on Medium as well as your own blog?

After struggling with this question for a few weeks I think be come up with a novel strategy.

I write daily here on craighewitt.me.  It’s been a fantastic change in my creativity, thought process, and quite frankly the peace it’s brought. Just getting my thoughts out on paper each day is great and it clarifies those thoughts well beyond what I could do otherwise.

That’s a lot of content, and not to mention the weekly posts that I make on the PodcastMotor blog.  So how do you take all of that existing content and use it on a platform like Medium?  I really don’t want to write another entire 500+ word article each time.

Well here’s what I’ve come up with.  I like writing about business, entrepreneurship, and Startups.  And I do it every day on this site.  A lot of those articles are really just personal dialogue of what’s going on with me and my business, but some are huge knowledge bombs from what I’ve learned running my business. Why not just expound on those articles?  Sounds like a good idea to me.

So I have a couple of really great, although shorter, posts here that could make cornerstone posts on something like Medium.  Posts that start as 300-500 words to 1500 easily and would add a ton of value.

So stay tuned to my Medium channel for updates on some of the bigger posts from here on the blog.

What about you?  How are you pushing on Medium?  Leave a comment below and tell me all about it.
